Effect of solvent flow rate on mass transfer coefficient

doi:10.1088/1757-899X/859/1/012011

“The solvent flow rate strongly affects the mass transfer coefficient. The effect of solvent flow rate on
KGav is shown in Figure 1. It can be seen that the solvent flow rate at 15.9 m3 /m2· h provides the highest KGav at 0.37 kmol/m3 ·h·kPa. The solvent flow rate is a direct relationship with the KGav [11], the KGav increase as the liquid flow rate increase. The reasons for this behaviour are (i) an increase in the solvent flow rate can cause more amine molecules available for reacting with CO2 molecules, (ii) an increase in the mass transfer in liquid phase which is directly proportional to the KGav increase, and (iii) an increase in the solvent flow rate leads to increasing the wet surface area between gas and liquid phase on the packing [12]. ”
