Effects of gas flow rate using modelled HFMC

https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ccst.2022.100028

“The effect of gas flow rate on the CO2 removal efficiency is shown in Fig. 10. The CO2 removal efficiency decreases as gas flow rate increases. However, this reduction for MDEA + KLys solvent is much lower than the ones in the MEA and MDEA. The CO2 removal efficiency of MDEA + KLys was reduced from ⁓96% to ⁓68% while for the MEA and MDEA decreased to ⁓28% and ⁓17% respectively, as the gas flow rate increases.

At lower gas flow rates, CO2 removal efficiency is higher which could be related to higher CO2 diffusivity into the solution. Furthermore, the gas-phase residence time decreases with increasing gas flow rate in the HFMC, thus leading to a reduction in CO2 removal efficiency (Saidi, 2017).
