“Zhao et al. found that carbonation performance of K2CO3/Al2O3 closely depended on the water pretreatment process (Zhao et al., 2012b; Zhao et al., 2012d). Seo et al. further demonstrated that the sorbKX35 subjected to 30 min H2O pretreatment maintained 100% CO2 removal efficiency for 10 min. It was believed that H2O pretreatment played an important role in activating the K2CO3 phase to form K2CO3•1.5H2O, which could improve carbonation reactivity (Seo et al., 2007). The promoting effect of H2O pretreatment had also been confirmed by Lee et al. (Lee et al., 2011a; Lee et al., 2006b). Water pretreatment time and the concentration of water vapor should be carefully considered, so that carbonation could be proceeded under a proper RH with respect to preventing the transformation of K2CO3•1.5H2O back to K2CO3 (Lee et al., 2011a).”
