The addition of K and Na clearly promoted the kinetics of CO2 capture using LiZr based adsorbents. As shown in the following figure, the reaction time was shorten from 60 mins to 30mins after the introduction of K (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jallcom.2021.162419). However, Na-promoted LiZr sorbent was more effective, reducing the reaction time to 15 mins. In terms of the capacity of carbon capture, the addition of K or Na increased the CO2 uptake from 0.12 to around 0.2 g/g.
Figure – CO2 capture using K and Na promoted LiZr adsorbents; capturing conditions: 50% CO2, capture temperature – 500 °C; desorption temperature – 700 °C for LiZr and KLiZr; 750 °C desorption temperature for NaLiZr. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jallcom.2021.162419
