“Based on the above results, we propose an improved ICCU process including CO2 capture, conversion and re-capture to deliver pure syngas from flue gas (as illustrated in Fig. 3). The improved ICCU process has three steps, including 1) using CaO-alone to capture CO2 from flue gas to reduce CO2 emission; 2) using the mixture of CaO/CaCO3 as the catalyst to regenerate CaCO3 and to convert the captured CO2 into CO by switching gas to H2; 3) using another same CaO bed as a sorbent to remove un-reacted CO2 to produce pure syngas, and the saturated CaO can be similarly regenerated by introducing H2. Since no other metal catalysts are added, the deactivated CaO can be used for cement manufacturing to avoid secondary pollution.”
