Addition of Zn(II), Cu(II) and Ni(II) for prohibiting ammonia loss

The addition of Zn(II), Cu(II) and Ni(II) to ammonia was investigated. The results (Figure 1) showed that it was effective to reduce the total ammonia concentration and decrease the free ammonia by adding all the ions. However, their results (Figure 2) also showed that the rate of CO2 absorption was reduced by adding M(II) and the reduction of total ammonia concentration both lead to a decrease in overall CO₂ absorption rates.
